Story of Faith by Laura Stahl
The façade of being in control of my life shattered on the day my father wrecked his car. My father, a careful driver, veered slightly onto the snowy edge of the road on his commute to work. His whirling sedan slid off the road, missing the guard rail and wrapped one of the telephone poles fencing the country road. The space that held my dad was the only area left untouched by mangled steel.
As a young teen I felt great comfort in God’s presence that day, praising God for saving the one parent that I trusted and loved. God’s witness of love that day nurtured my prayer life and evolving faith. The memory of God’s protection of Dad on that lonely country road and God’s comforting presence with me keeps my faith strong through obstacles and disappointments. I trust God’s ultimate control!
