Today we are on the edge of Lent, the ending of the journey to the cross we have been on since Ash Wednesday, a mere six weeks and a lifetime ago. Who could’ve imagined the route our journey would take?
Tomorrow we begin the final Three Days – Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil – the darkness of descent before the glorious rising to new life.
But today, today is a day on the edge.
In this time of pandemic we know that feeling of living on the edge. What darkness will tomorrow bring? When will light and life return?
Today, on the edge is a good day to pause. To look at the fears, and release them. To let the questions remain unanswered. To hold the controls lightly, and just be held in the love of Christ. Pause, and let mercy flow down and through you, softening the edges of the new day.
May you be restored by God’s tender mercy through the words and music of The Porter’s Gate – “Have Mercy on Me”. Listen, and let mercy wash over you
