Why do some seeds sprout while others don’t? I have a gardener friend who advises new gardeners to plant more than you think you need, because not all seeds will grow. Sometimes a seed will fail due to its environment, other times it will not grow for an unknown reason. Sharing our faith is like planting seeds: you’ve got to sow more than you think you can harvest, and you can’t know what will take root. What sorts of seeds is God asking you to plant today? What green things are sprouting in your life today that were planted by someone else? Are there any seeds you have planted that are not growing? Meditate on 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 as you ponder these things.
Creator God, make our hearts good soil. Plant within us seeds of hope, love, and faith and grow them by your Holy Spirit. May the world know your goodness by our love and service of one another. In the name of your Son, we pray, amen.
